Otford walk – landscapes and romance

This section of the Darent Valley Path runs alongside the River Darent to reach the centre of charming Shoreham with its 12th century church of St Peter and St Paul.

Steep climbs are rewarded with views of the Memorial Cross carved into the hillside and dramatic views of the village of Otford and Greensand ridge of Sevenoaks.

Wildlife thrives on the chalklands and hundreds of colourful butterflies and carpets of wild flowers are found here. The adonis blue, the chalkhill blue, marbled white and dark green fritillary are all found fluttering above the hillside.

Return to Otford and you’ll discover the medieval buildings, independent shops and restaurants which surround the listed duck pond.
