Join Boots on Adventures on a journey between two iconic landmarks in the UK, Canterbury Cathedral and Dover Castle.

  • Canterbury

This unique 2-day experience takes us on a pilgrimage along part of the Via Francigena trail whilst admiring the breath-taking views of the Kent Downs AONB (Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty).

During the two days we will be venturing along a trail where more history has occurred (in our opinion) than anywhere else in Britain. Visit the site where the English first met Julius Ceasar’s Invaders from Rome, where Kings rode to court potential brides, wander through coal mining communities, and hear the story of how they thrived and died. See ancient burial sites, walk in the steps of pilgrims as they made their way on to Rome, as well as meander through enchanting villages and hamlets, past ancient churches, and other great landmarks all with their own unique character.

In addition, we have included a tour (at no extra cost) on Friday Night which starts at 7pm where we will meet a Green badged city tour guide who will take us through the streets of Canterbury. During the tour, our guide will tell us about the stories and myths around this great city.

**Please note that Accommodation is not included on Friday night. This will enable you to choose what suits your budget best.

We start our adventure from Canterbury East Station at 0930am on Saturday morning. At this time, you will be met with a warm welcome from the guides and your small overnight bag will be loaded into the support vehicle.

In the morning we will discover more of Canterbury’s past before heading up onto the North Downs Way and making our way to Dover with open views of the amazing countryside to include the breath-taking Elham Valley. During our adventure we will be stopping at many iconic sites that are heavily steeped in history.

On Saturday night we will camp in a beautiful campsite in the picturesque village of Shepherdswell. As we get to the campsite you will find the site set up and your evening meal on the go. All you need to do is relax and soak in the scenery. In the evening you will be invited to join us around a campfire which will be a fantastic opportunity to share stories and relax before we retire for the evening.

The next morning, we will continue our journey, where a personal highlight is walking over the brow of the hill and seeing the majestic Dover Castle and the famous White Cliffs set upon the background of the English Channel. We will finish our tour at Dover train station at around 4pm where we will leave a little tired but with great memories of an amazing weekend. From Dover train station there are trains back to Canterbury East Station and on to London (not included).
