A small wood to the north-west of the village of Fawkham Green, this Woodland Trust site was originally part of a larger wood which stretched to Choaks Wood, on the northern side of Sun Hill Road.
The wood lies on the upper chalk of the North Downs, on a cap of flinty clay. There is rich flora throughout the wood, including bluebells and spurge laurel, which is normally a sign that the area is ancient woodland.
Part of Wilmay Copse is an ancient coppice of beech, ash, field maple and hornbeam, much of which is now over-mature. The Woodland Trust also planted a former paddock with a mixture of broad-leaved trees in 1986.
There are paths for public access throughout the site, but due to Wilmay Copse’s small size the network is limited. The wood can be reached by following Sun Hill Road to the northwest from the village of Fawkham Green, although there is no formal parking.

Easy access information

This park and open space contains uneven trails, un-surfaced or narrow pathways. Also, there are width restricting features, such as stiles and narrow gaps making it difficult for visitors with pushchairs and/or wheelchairs to access some parts of the site.
