The Putting Down Routes team and project partner Black Girls Hike are delighted to offer a countryside walk from Croydon to Surrey.

Starting and finishing at Gomshall, this circular walk takes us on a beautiful journey through some of the Surrey Hills’ finest landscapes. We’ll follow the North Downs Way up to the sweeping vistas of Hackhurst Downs, where rolling chalk grasslands open up to stunning panoramic views. From there, we’ll descend and loop back through the tranquil woodlands and meandering paths of the Abinger Roughs, a charming National Trust area dotted with ancient trees and secret clearings.

As we near the end of our walk, we’ll pass through Piney Copse, a serene patch of woodland once owned by author E.M. Forster, before returning to Gomshall village for optional food and drink at the pretty gastropub, The Gomshall Inn. A perfect mix of hilltop views, historic trails, and peaceful woodland.
