Sunday 22nd June, 11am (5/6 hours)

Meeting Location: St. Gregory and Saint Martin Church, Wye TN25 5EJ

Nether is an all day, circular walk from Wye to Brook and back, led by artist Sara Trillo. Woven into the walk will be discussion of traditions marking midsummer and the solstice, and forays into rituals and social histories connected with the coming harvest season. There will be allusions to under land mythologies, and a sharing of vocabulary in old Kentish dialect that relate to the local environment. In the spirit of a pilgrimage, each participant will receive a hand-made ceramic token to mark their participation on the walk.

Please bring water and a picnic lunch as the walk will be around 5-6 hours with regular stops. Please dress appropriately for the weather on the day and wear walking shoes/trainers. There will be some steep walking and styles to negotiate on route.

This event forms part of the Language and Landscape Impact fellowship led by Dr. Jessica Potter in partnership with the Royal College of Art and the Kent Downs National Landscape and Cross-Channel Geopark.
