Visit the mystical and ancient Lost Village of Dode including a talk about the history, myths and folklore surrounding this magical place.

  • Gravesend

Join the Putting Down Routes team for a ramble through one of the most beautiful and hidden parts of the Kent Downs National Landscape. Although less than 10 miles from Gravesend, this route is really off the beaten track and feels a lot more remote than it actually is. Starting at Holly Hill Wood car park, we will walk through woods, farmland and valleys, skirting alongside Britain’s newest National Nature Reserve before ending up at the historic Lost Village of Dode, which was abandoned over 600 years ago during the Black Death. Here, we will be invited into the church (no longer used for Christian worship) where we will be given a talk about the history, myths and legends of this magical place.
