Toys Hill is an area of high woodland covering more than 200 acres, parts if which have been owned by the National Trust since 1898, when it became one of the organisations’ first properties.
Dedicated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest due to its abundant wildlife, the summit of the hill lies 235 metres above sea level on the Greensand Ridge, making it one of the highest points in Kent. A great place to enjoy relaxing, peaceful walks, there are some fantastic views over the Weald.
The site has been constantly added to since 1898, most importantly in 1981 when a large swathe of woodland was acquired, creating the extensive site that can be enjoyed today.
In the past, Toys Hill was very important to the local economy. Charcoal pits can still be seen here, and herdsmen and the local villagers would have used the woods extensively. Some of the groves of beech pollards the woods were famous for can still be seen, while parts of Scords Wood are managed on a non-intervention basis, allowing Natural England to study their development.
Always popular with walkers, a number of different surfaced waymarked trails run around the site from the car park, including a wheelchair route.

This park and open space has at least one accessible route but otherwise is considered to be less suitable for visitors with pushchairs and/or wheelchairs.
