This walk begins on top of the North Downs chalk ridge above the Surrey town of Oxted.

Along the route travel across both the Greenwich Meridian Line and the county border from Surrey into Kent. Throughout the walk short steep climbs unexpectedly reveal panoramic views across the Darent Valley. Although the route runs parallel to the M25, it only crosses it once and otherwise you are unaware of its close proximity.

Down House is nestled a few miles north of the trail and although unseen it is exciting to know this was Charles Darwin’s family home and where he wrote On The Origin of the Species. He studied flora and fauna in his garden and on the surrounding downs which adds to the enjoyment of the walk, what will you discover along the way?

The walk joins the Pilgrims Way into Otford the route passes the Grade 2 listed pond, the only pond to be listed in England.

This epic walk balances you high on top of the chalk downs with far reaching stunning views south. Along the route you will weave through woodland, across fields and farmland and journey into the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty
