There are some very impressive views of the Kent Weald to be enjoyed from Ide Hill, a 33.5 acre area of semi-natural woodland lying on the steep sides of the Greensand Ridge.
Despite having lost over 70 per cent of its tree cover during the 1987 storm, the woodland has regenerated well, and is designated as a Site of Special Interest due to the abundance of wildlife found here.

Owned and managed by the National Trust, the site sits at the edge of Ide Hill village, and there are circular walks from which you can enjoy the beautiful views down to Bough Beech reservoir and experience the dense foliage and wildlife of the hilly woodland.

There’s a picnic area too, in addition to the local amenities present in Ide Hill village itself. There are several other National Trust sites nearby, such as Emmetts Garden and the larger Toy’s Hill woodland. Both are within walking distance, making an excellent energetic day out for those looking for a scenic route for a more strenuous countryside hike.

Easy access information

This park and open space contains uneven trails, un-surfaced or narrow pathways. Also, there are width restricting features, such as stiles and narrow gaps making it difficult for visitors with pushchairs and/or wheelchairs to access some parts of the site.
