Passing from Folkestone to Dover you’ll see reminders of the military heritage in what became known as “Hellfire Corner” during WWII. From the historic Cinque Port town of Dover the route takes the path of the Via Francigena Pilgrims route from Rome to Canterbury, past Canterbury Cathedral and returning to Wye through traditional Kentish Villages, ancient woodland and farm land.

With a tradition of hop growing and brewing it’s only natural that East Kent is the spiritual home of the Micropub revolution; a celebratory movement committed to promoting and celebrating traditional beer brewing methods, small independent pubs and brewers. So why not stopover in one of the many Inns and restaurants to taste locally sourced produce from the Garden of England or stay in one of the many B&B’s nearby?

Folkestone to Dover: X Miles

Head along the White Cliffs to Hellfire Corner, past the Battle of Britain Memorial to Deal Pier’s Cafe. Travel past Samphire Hoe and see the Banksy Mural. Explore Dover’s past at Western Heights, Dover Castle and more in Dover.

Wye to Brabourne: X Miles

Travel past Wye Crown taking in stunning views across Romney Marsh then picnic above the Devil’s Kneading Trough before heading for a local lunch at the Five Bells Country Pub.

Brabourne to Folkestone: X Miles

Enjoy panoramic views across Elham Valley, and lunch at the Gatekeeper Inn. Hunt for orchids and butterflies then climb above the Channel Tunnel Terminal before heading into Folkestone.
