Mandy Bright
Location: Kent Downs – particularly Canterbury to Rochester
About: Mandy was an active participant in WalkAwhile, her family’s business for over 20 years, organising supported walking holidays and charity events along the full extent of the North Downs Way. Alongside this, in a busy working life with a career in children’s services, she combined research, policy development, and staff and carer training. Now retired she is delighted to have become a North Downs Way Ambassador and share her interest in the history and ecology of the trail
‘Accessibility to the countryside is close to my heart now we are a ‘wheelchair adapted family’. I hope to bring our personal experience to helping others enjoy the trail as much as we still do. Originally inspired by the research for my husband’s book ‘The Pilgrims Way: Fact & Fiction of an ancient trackway’, I love sharing surprising and little-known facts! WalkAwhile was a Green Tourism Silver Award holder from the very early days, and I hope to bring this experience of low impact travel, respect for the local community, and eye for detail to every walk’.
Services offered: short and half day accessible guided tours focusing on history and the environment.
Suitability: Families & carers with children, wheelchair users, adults and/or children with limited mobility. Occasional day group walks for carers and more mobile family members
