As part of the Cross-Channel Geopark Festival, join Lucia of The Wild Kitchen for a hands-on foraging and wild food workshop at Dover Castle. Explore the natural bounty of Kent’s woodlands and coastline while learning about edible plants, berries, seeds, nuts, and seaweeds. You will also get to enjoy cooking and drawing activities inspired by the local environment.
Workshop:
-
Autumn Harvest – Discover berries, seeds, and nuts, with a particular focus on the ancient oak tree and coastal holm oaks. Learn to make traditional dishes such as hummus and pancakes using acorn flour, connecting seasonal foraging to historic and cultural traditions.
-
Treasures from the Sea – Explore edible seaweeds and other coastal foods. This may include a local beach visit, tasting sessions, and cooking demonstrations to showcase the culinary potential of wild coastal ingredients.
