The White Cliffs via St Margaret’s at Cliffe and Kingsdown
Group Guided Walk
Overview:
Join us for a scenic coastal walk beginning in the charming village of St Margaret’s at Cliffe. This beautiful circular route explores dramatic chalk cliffs, historic wartime landmarks, and sweeping seascapes. Taking in Kingsdown on the outward leg and returning via the Saxon Shore Way and King Charles III England Coast Path, this 6.5-mile walk is full of coastal character and hidden history.
Route Details:
We’ll begin our walk in St Margaret’s at Cliffe and make our way inland through quiet lanes and farmland before descending into the picturesque coastal village of Kingsdown. From here, the landscape changes as we pick up the clifftop trail for a dramatic return leg along the Saxon Shore Way and the King Charles III England Coast Path.
This section of the walk offers breath-taking views over the English Channel, with France often visible on clear days. We’ll pass several fascinating waypoints, including Old Parkers Cap and Hope Point, both offering stunning views and steeped in natural and military history. A highlight of this section is the striking St Margaret’s Bay War Memorial, perched above the cliffs, honouring those who served in the two World Wars.
Continuing on, we pass The Cut and Conney Barrow Point—little-known spots rich in coastal flora and geological interest—before curving gently back towards our starting point.
Expect a mix of open fields, woodland edges, quiet village paths, and wide hilly clifftop trails.
