The second event in a series of summer workshops to celebrate our landscape and local libraries. Suitable for all ages, free to attend, but booking is essential.

  • 16 Aug 2023
  • 10am - 1pm
  • Folkestone

We will meet at Wood Avenue Library to start our exploration onto the Folkestone Downs, where we will learn about the geology of the landscape and how this supports rare and specialised wildlife, with help from the White Cliffs Countryside Partnership‘s Folkestone Ranger.

Identifying plants on the way and improving our botanical knowledge, we will follow a botanical code of conduct to pick and collect some abundant plants to take back to the local library and make our own creative Herbarium sheets, to add to your Geopark journal!

Then Ready, Set, Read, why not find a book within the library collection to help you continue to improve your nature knowledge and work towards the Summer Reading Challenge.

Wood Avenue Library has an external door that is manual and the internal doors are sliding automatic doors, with level access. The walking route will be through urban areas on pavements alongside and across roads, as well as on potentially uneven and steep footpaths on The Folkestone Downs, through short and longer grass.

Please come prepared for the walk with appropriate clothing, footwear, water and snacks! And children will need to be accompanied by an adult throughout the workshop and walk.

Please note because of limited capacity, we please ask that tickets are booked for all children attending (but not required for accompanying adults).
