Join artist Alison Neighbour for a guided walk along The Chalk Path on Saturday 4th October at 11am. A chance to make the journey in the company of others.

Meet at The Coastwatch Station on East Cliff (next to the white Martello Tower) just before 11am.

Please wear sturdy shoes as the ground can be uneven and slippery if it’s wet. The walk will finish by around 12.30pm, with an invitation for tea and a chat about the experience on the beach.

Please download the app Echoes and the audio walk onto your mobile device before you arrive, if you are able, via this link: https://explore.echoes.xyz/collections/Ur6GCGGsgUSJ3AuH.

You will also need a pair of headphones. Technical support will be available on the day if you need it, and MP3 players and plug-in headphones are available to borrow if you don’t have access to the necessary technology.

This will be the last guided version of the walk this year – the self-guided walk continues until 19th October on both sides of the Channel, and the accompanying book is available to buy from The Folkestone Bookshop on Tontine Street.

No need to book, just turn up!

If you do not have headphones or a smartphone, please let us know via ali.neighbour@gmail.com so we can offer you an analogue version of the experience.

If you find you cannot attend please offer your place to a friend. We’re afraid we cannot offer refunds or manage exchanges due to the administrative workload but we’d love to see all the places filled.

The Chalk Path was originally developed through funding from Arts Council England, Parc naturel régional des caps et marais d’Opale, The Geologists Association Curry Fund, Folkestone Fringe, Eurotunnel Le Shuttle, The Green Fund, and Kent Downs National Landscape, in connection with the Cross-Channel Geopark’s bid to become a UNESCO Global Geopark.

A companion version of the walk is available at Cap Blanc Nez in France – why not try this one too and get the perspective on the land and sea from the other side?
