- 1.30pm to 4pm
- Shoreham
This free art workshop will be led by Sarah Newman, a historian and writer who has lived in the Darent Valley area for over 20 years, and Nicole Mollett, artist and printmaker. During the workshop, Sarah will tell the extraordinary story of two local figures – Sir Joseph and Lady Grace Prestwich – who were key to revolutionary findings about the antiquity of humankind. Using fossils, maps, beautiful chalk imagery and a whole range of materials make colourful booklets, known as Zines from the word “magazine”, to take away with you, or just enjoy painting and experimenting with image-making. Local historian Sarah Newman will give occasional talks about these dynamic local characters while artist Nicole Mollett will inspire your artistic responses. This is a drop-in workshop taking place over several hours.
