Built on a high chalk cliff, in a strategic position facing threats from across the Channel, Dover castle has always been an important part of Britain's line of defense.

Henry II began the building of the present imposing and impressive castle in the 1180’s and over the following 800 years its defences and buildings were adapted to meet the changing demands of warfare and weapons.

Dover Castle is a great action-packed day out for all the family, roam through centuries of history from the Roman lighthouse to the secrets of the Second World War.
