Ancient parkland is one of the most recognisable features of the Kent Downs, the combination of large, free grown trees and open grazed grassland creates a timeless but tended landscape.
There are many examples of ancient parkland throughout the Kent Downs. Higham Park, a grade II* listed 18th century stately home sits in the rolling landscape near Bridge. Highham Park is not currently open to the public however you can catch a glimpse of its splendour from the nearby public footpath.
Doddington Place Gardens, near Sittingbourne, was built around 1860 for Sir John Croft of the port and sherry family. It sits in the picturesque landscape of the Syndale Valley and boasts magnificent gardens. Doddington Place Gardens is open to the public.
The Georgian Belmont House commands outstanding views of the rolling Kent Downs landscape just 4 miles south of Faversham. Meander through the magnificent grounds including the walled garden, pinetum and kitchen garden with its Victorian greenhouse.
