Steeped in history and surrounded by nature, the Mosaic Makers in Nature creative experience is the perfect way to relax and enjoy the idyllic countryside setting. You’ll learn the ancient art of mosaic from an experienced artist and teacher, before creating your very own mosaic to take home.
Capturing inspiration from nature, this creative experience takes place at the old game keepers cottage, nestled on the edge of ancient woodland belonging to the Chevening Estate in the famous Kent Downs National Landscape. In response to your immersion in nature, you’ll make either a mosaic leaf or mosaic mandala under the tutelage of your host, a professional artist. You’ll create your mosaic using up-cycled materials, including vintage ceramics, repurposing discarded materials for a sustainable and environmentally friendly workshop. This is a truly unique opportunity to learn a new skill, surrounded by breath-taking scenery.
With a serene and bustling backdrop of nature and wildlife, your host will share anecdotes of her life on the Crown Estate; a building steeped in history, bequeathed to the Government by Lord Stanhope, and used as the Foreign Secretary’s weekend retreat.
This is a truly unique experience that you’ll treasure for years to come. It is your opportunity to learn an ancient art and make something new as you immerse yourself into greater than life surroundings. Your wholesome day will be accompanied with a sumptuous cream tea. All materials, use of tools and refreshments are also provided.
