Dive into the fascinating world of coccolithophores, microscopic marine organisms that have been abundantly preserved for millions of years in the chalk cliffs of southern England, including Folkestone. This family-friendly event invites children and the public to discover the hidden wonders of these tiny fossils.

Activities include colouring intricate patterns of microfossils and building your own 3D model of a coccolithophore using clay. Join us for a hands-on journey into the past, where art and science come together to uncover the secrets of the ancient marine world!

This is a drop-in event, no booking required. This is event is suitable for ages 5 and up.

Accessibility: Quarterhouse aims to be accessible to all, offering a varied programme of events, catering for all of our customer’s needs. It is a wheelchair accessible venue with ground floor spaces available for seated performances and two balcony wheelchair spaces available for standing events. Quarterhouse is fitted with a Hearing Loop System. We recommend getting in contact with us prior to booking or on arrival so we can assist you with the best seats for the system. Quarterhouse has a lift for accessing all floors, including the bar, toilets and balcony. Toilets are fully wheelchair accessible and can be found on the ground and first floor.
