Bore Place are delighted to welcome astrophotographer, Jeremy Phillips FRAS, for a talk about 'Shooting the Stars'. The evening is aimed at anyone who is interested in discovering how images of the night sky’s most wonderful objects can be captured, or just wants to take a virtual journey through space via his photographs.

Jeremy will reveal what can be achieved with the most basic equipment – a mobile phone and an £80 telescope – showing how you can shoot the moon, capturing its craters and beautiful features, even from a light-polluted urban setting. The journey heads further into space to the stars of our own beautiful galaxy, The Milky Way, revealing what can be achieved with a basic DSLR camera.

Jeremy will also give an overview of how more technically challenging images can be captured with a telescope, even in a light-polluted back garden. These include awe-inspiring nebulas – unimaginably huge clouds of gas and interstellar dust, and distant galaxies millions of light years away.

Astrophotography is a mixture of art, science and technology and this presentation will celebrate all these aspects and wrap up with a question-and-answer session.
