Via Francigena

A mini pilgrimage; Cathedral to Coast on an ancient route to Rome.

Take the North Downs Way National Trail from Canterbury Cathedral to Dover seafront, this route takes in 20 miles of rolling Kent Countryside with views across classic chalk grassland and across the channel to France. Winding through Farmland, Villages and passing through the East Kent Coal Fields the route combines rich wildlife with industrial and cultural heritage. Why not check out a heritage railway or visit a micropub along the way and sample some of the beers and wines Kent is famous for? When arriving in Dover you could take the chance to visit the White Cliffs, Dover Castle or just relax by the sea and watch the ferries.
